The park, rich in biodiversity, was established in 1898 and stretches 450 km from the Crocodile River in the south to the Limpopo River bordering Zimbabwe in the north. Its eastern boundary is the Mozambican border, where it integrates with the International Peace Park, or “Transfrontier Park” as agreed to by the governments of the three bordering countries involved. Kruger is a paradise for the wildlife enthusiast, containing some 137 mammal species, including six cat species, more than 500 species of birds, 114 species of reptiles, 46 fish, 33 amphibians, 227 butterflies, and over 300 species of trees.
